Ableworld Southampton Provide and Install Stairlift For Member Of Veterans Trust

This entry was posted in June 19, 2023

The Southampton Veterans Centre approached Ableworld Southampton, asking them to service a stairlift once belonging to one of their members. Southampton Veterans Centre wanted to reuse the stairlift by installing it into another member’s home. Ableworld told them that they could service the stairlift but it wasn't advisable as it was no longer installed and in use.

The veteran and her husband the couple who would be receiving it, knew how much of a difference it would make to their day-to-day life. Unfortunately, stairs can become such a burden for many people, making it difficult to navigate through the house that they have always known. However, a stairlift  offers a solution allowing people to manoeuvre through their home with ease.

Jeff the company director for Ableworld Southampton knew his team couldn’t perform a service on the old stairlift but still wanted to help out. Jeff would instead perform a survey at the couple’s house, making sure that the old stairlift would fit in the first place. Unfortunately, it was bad news the track length was too short meaning it wouldn’t fit their staircase.

Thankfully, all was not lost. Once Jeff got back to his store, he took a look at his stores stock and managed to find a suitable reconditioned stairlift. The very next day the Senior Stairlift engineer Steve installed and fitted the recon stairlift into the couple’s home!

Jeff and his team were more than happy to supply and fit the stairlift free of charge, everyone at Ableworld Southampton appreciate everything the Veterans Trust does. Any opportunity Ableworld Southampton get to lend a helping hand

We want to use this moment as a way to promote the usability of secondhand stairlifts just like the one provided to the Veteran and her husband. Ableworld buy back stairlifts (subject to survey and age) so, you could earn money whilst making it an affordable option for other people.

So, please make sure you think before you throw away your stairlift. If it's useable, we can recondition it and give it another home.

We wish the couple from the Veterans Centre all the best and hope that their new stairlift brings them the independence they deserve.
