What is Incontinence & Continence?

The definition of Continence is the ability to control bladder or bowel movements, Incontinence therefore is the inability to control these movements. There are two types of incontinence: urinary incontinence, where urine is accidentally lost from the bladder, and bowel incontinence, where faeces are accidentally lost from the bowel.

Who suffers from Incontinence?

People of all ages can suffer from incontinence but the likelihood increases as we get older. 14 million men, women, young adults and children live with bladder issues, so you're not alone!

What causes Incontinence?

Your continence may be affected by a variety of factors, such as weak pelvic floor muscles or changes in the nerves controlling the bladder. The urge to pee may even be caused by an overactive bladder, or by an enlarged prostate that presses against the bladder.

Symptoms of Incontinence?

The symptoms of urinary incontinence vary from person to person, but can include leaking urine when coughing or sneezing. Frequent urination, the need to pass urine urgently, wetting the bed, and difficulty passing urine. Bowel Incontinence is characterised by leaking from the bowels, urgent need to open the bowels, trouble controlling wind, and straining when emptying the bowels.

How to regain control of your Incontinence

Despite the fact that there are plenty of medicines available to help reduce the frequency and risk of leakage, Ableworld knows that there are still ways to prevent it. However, Ableworld wants to encourage quick behavioral adjustments that can reduce incontinence without the use of medication.

Pelvic Floor Exercises –The benefits of strengthening your pelvic floor to reduce incontinence are being supported by a growing body of evidence. Stopping frequent leaking and regaining some independence can be accomplished by strengthening the muscles involved in bladder and bowel control. For instructions on how to properly complete the exercises, kindly follow the link. https://healthandcarevideos.uk/bladder?videoId=1595

Maintain healthy Weight – Maintaining an appropriate weight is another approach to lessen incontinence because carrying more weight may result in diabetes. Our tendency to leak grows as our pee production rises as a result of diabetes.

Diet – When it comes to the general health and operation of our bowels and bladder, eating a balanced diet is essential. This includes consuming fresh fruits and vegetables, especially cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, which is, in my opinion, the supreme vegetable.

Healthy fats are essential to any diet, and examples include oily fish, avocado and avocado oil, and cold-pressed Extra Virgin Oil from a glass bottle. Avoid using vegetable oil at all costs!

Lastly, consume fermented foods like yoghurt, sauerkraut, and kimchi. It has been shown that eating fermented food improves bladder and digestive health!
